Our Story
The story of Painted Donkey is not one that follows an easy road.
There never was a road or even a map.
For us to get here, it took hard work, sweat, and some divine intervention.
Mixing just the right proportions of age-old traditions with a splash of rebellion, we’ve created a clan of tequilas and unique ready-to-drink offerings that are as bold as they are refreshing. They are produced at the family-owned, award-winning distillery Destiladora Del Valle De Tequila. Drink them straight, try one of our suggested cocktails, or stir up your own uninhibited mix of ingredients to create something uniquely your own.
Jalisco is one of the most economically and culturally important states in Mexico due to its natural resources, its long history and culture. Many of the characteristic traits of Mexican culture, particularly outside Mexico City, are originally from Jalisco — mariachi, ranchera music, birria, tequila, jaripeo, etc. — hence the state’s motto: “Jalisco es México.” Economically, it is ranked third in the country, with industries centered in the Guadalajara metropolitan area, the second-largest metropolitan area in Mexico.
